How do you have your freedom today?....because troops have fought for their country and were proud to do so. People need to stop being so anti-everything to prove a point to others that they are diverse. So you are going to stop drinking Starbucks coffee because that are supporting their country. You simply can not satisfy anyone...so many people are ignorant and oblivious of their surroudings

I work at starbucks and i dissagree that it will blow up in our faces this doesnt make us support the war we support our men that are out there. They grandfathers, fathers, and sons, they are people's loved ones. Just because some dont agree with the war that doesnt mean we shouldnt be on our mens side. I dont agree with the wa either but i send boxes of items to the troops constantly. Support your country!

From Nov. 24,'04: "You can not be against the war, (and still) support our troops."

I too started reading all of these posts, but had to call it quits after the above quoted post.

It appears to me that, fortunately, in the past 4 years either some of the posters have finally reached adulthood, or they just got bored with posting vulgarity.

Either way, I'm proud to see that there are others who understand that, yes, you can indeed support the troops regardless of how you feel about the president OR the war in which we find ourselves.

I am president of our local chapter of a federally chartered organization which supports the mothers of our enlisted, as well as their families and military veterans.

I am also an ordained minister. I founded and am current Director of a ministry that has been around for the past 12 years, and I am very humbled to be in the position where I CAN help boost the morale of our troops by trying to send them "a little bit of home" from whatever company, individual or group that feels the same way.

Three coffee companies have donated to our chapter for distribution to the troops, and that's wonderful. Other companies, not only coffee shoppes, have declined to do so for a variety of reasons. A number of book stores have donated reading materials to the troops, and a couple have chosen not to. It is this right of choice that is part of what our "children" are over there fighting to protect.

I like Starbucks coffee, reading books from the store who declined to donate, and I love Fritos! Just because they may choose not to donate cases of goods to the troops doesn't mean I will discontinue visiting their stores, as long as they don't throw rotten fruit and veggies at me when I proudly speak of my own support for the troops!

My son is in Iraq right now, his 2nd tour of duty...the 1st tour was in Afghanistan. One of the things that he and his buddies appreciate the most is when they receive "Care Packages" containing things they miss most from home.

The thing that hurts them the most is when people blame them for the war by witholding support or rallying for others to disrespect what they are trying to accomplish.

If you ask these young people what they're fighting for, you will never hear them say, "Why to lower the price of a barrel of oil!" or "To put more money in the pockets of all the politicians in the world, of course!"

They understand what happened on 9/11, and the incidences which occured before that date. My son was 15 years old when that horrible set of attacks occured...he was just a teenager when he and a group of his friends went with our police department to travel to New York to volunteer where they may. The smell of death hung in the air.

He told me that if he was able when he was old enough, he was going to do his part to see this never happened again on our shores.

He doesn't like the war either. But he's willing to put his life on the line every single day, live thousands of miles away from his wife and little 1 yr. old daughter, so that his and every other American family, will never have to worry about losing their freedoms, getting arrested, tortured and put to death for speaking their minds, even against governmental decisions.

So those people a couple years ago that wrote all that nonsense: if they did't like the freedoms we enjoy because my son, and a million other mothers' children, are fighting to keep tyrannical governments at bay....then hopefully they haven't posted in awhile because they left the country.

I hate war. But if you haven't anything in your life important enough to die for, then you haven't anything in your life important enough to live for.

God bless all of you who understand that disagreeing with war doesn't mean you can't still support those who are in harm's way.

If Starbucks chooses to donate to the troops, that's great; if not, it's a free country and the decision is theirs. I'd love to add a small shipment of Starbucks to our Care Packages, except for one thing:

Starbucks has a coffee house about 3 clicks away from son's duty station.

So, hmmmm...how about that? Starbucks supports the troops even if others are praising the "fact" that they don't!!!

I am through speaking.
